Equine Rescue, Inc. of New York is Verified by Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries

August 15, 2012 (Walden, NY) – The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries, awarded Verified status to Equine Rescue, Inc. and is Verified as of August 15, 2012.

Verification means that Equine Rescue, Inc. meets the criteria of a true equine sanctuary/rescue and is providing humane and responsible care of the animals. To be awarded Verified status, an organization must meet GFAS’s rigorous and peer-reviewed animal care standards which are confirmed by a site visit and they must also adhere to a demanding set of ethical and operational principles.

“We are proud to announce the recent verification of Equine Rescue, Inc of New York State. This rescue works closely with local authorities in cases of equine abuse and neglect and strives to return the horses to health and find each horse in their care a safe and loving home,” said Jeannine Alexander, Deputy Director of GFAS.

“Equine Rescue Inc. is thrilled to be a part of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries 'family'. It is a great honor to be recognized with verification status by our peers and we will continue to provide the best care possible for the abused and neglected equines that come through our doors,” Lynda Roemer-Broas, Vice-President.

Equine Rescue Inc. was awarded a compliance grant by GFAS to help make recommended improvements to meet Verification Standards. Compliance grant funding is made possible through a grant from PetSmart Charities®.

The GFAS Equine Accreditation Program is made possible by generous grants from PetSmart Charities® and The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®.
